I trained (many many years ago) at art college as a graphic designer, drifted into other jobs as my family grew up, and am now returning to my artistic roots alongside my day job as a teaching assistant with infants. Starting with a 2 hour course on how to use a microwave kiln a spark was lit (metaphorially speaking … I didn’t really set fire to anything!). On a bit of a whim I bought a larger kiln, lots of glass and it has grown to something of an obsession. I attend local craft fairs and sell through my facebook page and dream of this becoming a full time business one day. Come to think of it, my teachers always said I was a daydreamer, I think they were right.
My husband informs me I work best when set a challenge, so am often asking on my facebook page for ideas of what to make next, as well as working on commissions (but I did turn down a life size head & shoulders portrait!) Let me know if you have any quirky things I could have a play at making
I try to get along to local craft fairs (look them up in the events tab), and sell through some local shops. I'm often asked if I run workshops so with any luck they should be coming soon (after my daughter has finished her GCSE's anyway as I seem to be caught up with her art projects and revision)
